History

A Place Where the Breath of History Lingers, the Stage of the Genpei War
Over 800 years ago, the epic "Genpei War" took place at Yashima, which heralded a time of great change. It was here that the fierce battle between the outstanding general of the Heike clan, Taira no Munemori, and the genius warrior of the Genji clan, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, took place. The courage and passion that were embodied in Yashima's land became a shining light on the pages of history. In addition, Yashima has played an important role in Japanese history since ancient times due to its unique shape and topography floating in the sea. It appeared as "Yashima Castle" in the Asuka period and welcomed glory as the site of the fierce battle of the Genpei War at the end of the Heian period. Even today, the ancient battlefield still breathes with many historical sites and legends, allowing visitors to feel the breath of history.

鑑真が創建したと伝わります。その後時代は平安に移り、屋島の戦いが起こります。 屋島の戦いでの死者の慰霊は、現代の我々も祈りを通じて行われています。
