The Chihiro Art Museum is known as the world's first picture book art museum. Inside the museum, you can see various picture books, prints, and illustrations, with a focus on the works of Chihiro Iwasaki. For example, exhibitions focused on a single artist, such as the "Kota Taniuchi Exhibition: The Wind's Journey," which has roots in both Japan and France and allows you to appreciate not only picture books but also illustrations, are also held. Children and adults who love picture books are encouraged to visit.

The museum shop located within the Chihiro Art Museum is a spot only accessible to visitors. The open and airy shop offers a view of the garden's Japanese zelkova trees through its windows. It's a great place to purchase gifts for loved ones, in addition to creating memories of your visit.

Join the Garden Volunteer Program!

Chihiro Art Museum Join the Garden Volunteer Program!
The Chihiro Art Museum is recruiting volunteers for their garden. From May to September, you can help maintain the garden once or twice a month. By participating in the garden volunteer program, you can feel closer to the seasonal flowers and trees. In addition, there are special tours exclusively for participants, allowing you to see places you wouldn't normally see. Participation is free, but advance registration is required. At the Picture Book Cafe located within the Chihiro Art Museum, you can taste delicious sweets and drinks such as the "Apple Angel" apple pie made with Red Delicious apples and the "Leaf Fairy" with a gentle sweetness. The cafe also has a wide selection of picture books, allowing you to enjoy a luxurious time reading while savoring delicious sweets. By the way, when you visit the cafe, you can also enjoy the graceful view of the courtyard.

7-minute Walk from the Nearest Station
The Chihiro Art Museum is an art museum located in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. It's a 7-minute walk from the nearest station, Seibu Shinjuku Line's "Kami-Igusa Station". Alternatively, you can take the Seibu bus "Ishigami Koen Station" from JR Chuo Line's "Ogikubo Station", get off at "Kami-Igusa Station Entrance", and arrive after a 5-minute walk. If you're coming by car, you can use the museum parking lot. In case it's full, park your car at one of the several paid parking lots around the museum.

平日に行きました。とても空気の良いところで、気持ちの良い場所にあります。 アクセスは少し手間取る方もいるかもしれませんが、エレベーターがあったり、子ども用のスペースもあったりと、様々な方に対応されているので、そのあたりでの不便さはありません。 展示もゆったりと見れるので、リフレッシュにもおすすめです。 窓際に小さいスペースが有り、カフェ利用もできます。

いわさきちひろの経歴や作品、展示など非常に興味深いものが多かったです。安曇野の方がやや大きくて、作品の紹介は見応えがあった気もしましたが、こちらはこちらでアトリエなどの復元など、楽しめました。

豊かなひと時を過ごしました✨ 特別展示『あ・そ・ぼ』では体を動かし音が出るものがあり、楽しかったです♪ ちひろさんの歴史を知り、アトリエも拝見しました。 図書室もあり、1日ゆったりといたいです。 帰りにショップにて絵葉書を購入しました😊
