妙法寺川沿いに位置する中野区立の公園。 哲学者の井上円了がこの地に築いた四聖堂がその起源で、のちに哲学にまつわる様々な建物や風景などが整備されて「哲学堂公園」と呼ばれるようになったとのこと。 園内には哲学関連のスポットが77カ所(77場)あり、それらをめぐって歩くことができます。 ただ、前述の建物(宇宙館、三学亭など)はともかく、唯物園、唯心庭、独断橋など多くの場所は、なぜここにその名前が? と頭をひねってしまいます。説明文を読んでもなかなか理解できるものではありません。 まあこの公園を歩くだけで哲学の理解が進むわけもなく、キーワードをもとに自分なりの思索を深める場所なのかなという気がします。 ここは桜の名所としても有名。訪れた日、ソメイヨシノはまだ開花したばかりでチラホラ咲き程度でしたが、早咲きの桜にはすでに五分咲きくらいになっているものもありました。 数日内には見ごろを迎えそうで、花見客を迎える準備も進められていました。

哲学堂公園は小学生のころから、野球をする為だけに訪問していました。 ただ、中野区立郷土博物館に寄ったついでに、博物館見る感じで訪問しました。 久しぶりの訪問の最初の印象は「あ、土だけだったグラウンドが人工芝になってる!」でした。 その後、哲学的な何か?が見られるところを探したら、管理事務所の横にありました。 東洋大学の創立者、井上円了氏によって精神修養の場として創設された珍しい公園だそうですが、色々な建物や像が飾ってる場所に初めて立ち入り「こんなところがあるんだ!」ってビックリしました。 建物の中には入れませんが、哲学堂公園だけあって哲学的な一面を初めて見られて良かったです。

長閑さを感じられる公園でした。 桜が多く見かけました梅は少なめですね。 散歩しながら物想いにふけられます。👍
