Just a 5-minute Walk from the Exit of the World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine
Miyajima Aquarium "Miyaji Marine" is located right next to the world heritage site Itsukushima Shrine. It's just a 5-minute walk from the exit of the shrine, and there are two ways to get there: the "Snail Course" and the "Penguin Course". Miyajima's mascot characters, Snail and Penguin, will guide you along the way, stopping by Miyajima's tourist spots.

2024年元日に初詣の後、宮島水族館を訪れました。記念品に卓上カレンダーをいただき、大変嬉しかったです。 館内に入ると、牡蛎の養殖が見学できる「学び」のエリアや、愛らしい生き物と触れ合える「ぬくもり」を感じられるエリアなど、様々なゾーンがありました。特に、瀬戸内海に生息する色とりどりの美しい魚たちが泳ぐ姿は、この水族館の「独自性」を感じさせられました。 「いやし」と「ふれあい」をテーマにした展示は、心が安らぎ、温かい気持ちになりました。まるで、ここに来ると日常を忘れ、非日常の世界へ足を踏み入れたような「体感」です。 何度でも訪れたいと思える、素晴らしい水族館でした。

広島県宮島にある水族館、広島駅から路面電車でフェリー乗り場まで直通できるため離島ながらアクセスは容易、入館料は1420円と安いですが現金以外での購入が出来ずATMが設置されている商店街からそこそこ離れた場所にあるため持ち合わせが無い状態で赴くと大変なので注意。 規模としてはそこまで大きい水族館ではないですがお客さんも参加させてくれるアシカショーやペンギンのタッチ体験などイベントが頻繁に行われる楽しい水族館です、運がいいとペンギンの館内散歩も見られます。 展示されている生体は展示されている水族館が少なくなってきている小型鯨類であるスナメリを除くと特別希少だったり珍しかったりする生体はさほど多くは無い印象ですが宮島の名産である牡蠣やアナゴの展示は養殖場ぽい見せ方がされていて中々に面白ろく、宮島へ旅行の際にはオススメしたいスポットだと思います。

2024年12月末に伺いました。 カブトガニの展示が一番面白かったです。 自力で起き上がれないカブトガニを救うために、仲間が近づいてきて短い手でなんとか救助活動をします。 無表情に見えて、凄く情のある生き物だと知りました。 水族館がとても面白かったため、いつもはスルーするスピードくじに手を出しました。3等賞の一番小さなカワウソをゲット。 いい想い出です。
