A charming spot with a deep atmosphere that exudes the history of the water city and castle town of Saijo.
This is the site of the residence of the Ichiryu family, the lords of the Saijo clan, which was built around 1640. The historical remains such as the main gate, stone walls, moat, and Kitagomon gate are still preserved within the moat, and Saijo High School is currently located there, using the main gate as its entrance. The moat surrounding the area is filled with rich water and is a symbolic spot of Saijo, the city of water. In addition to cultural facilities such as the Ehime Folk Art Museum, the Saijo Folk Museum, and the Gokame Memorial Hall, there is also the Saijo Eiko Church, which has recently gained attention in the field of architecture and is popular as a walking course.
