In front of JR Oita Station, there is a statue of Motochika Ohtomo, a Christian daimyo who is famous for inviting Francis Xavier. Ohtomo actively incorporated Western culture into city planning, which led to the development of Oita City and many other places in Oita Prefecture that are still associated with the Ohtomo family. As a result, he has become a familiar figure to the citizens of Oita. In the statue, Ohtomo holds a sword, and his impressive appearance with a bold expression leaves a lasting impression. Why not visit the Oita Bank Akarenga Museum and see the statue as a set?
