石巻を訪れたら必ず行ってみようと思っていた場所です。 震災のあの日、私が住んでいる千葉県もかなり揺れたのですが、職場でテレビをつけて同僚たちと石巻を含む中継を見ておりました。 まさに石巻に津波が押し寄せる映像を目の当たりにし、胸が痛くなりました。 駅から歩いて行ったので上り坂がきつかったですが、公園からの景色はとても綺麗です。 眼下に広がる太平洋と南浜地区。 綺麗な公園になっていますが、街があり人がたくさん住んでいたことを考えると、 津波の恐ろしさをあらためて考えさせられます。

東日本大震災時に避難した場所として有名なので訪れてみた。 高台から見下ろす風景はきれいだが、震災前は民家がたくさんあったであろうことを考えると悲しい。 いろんな人が来てこれを機にいろいろ考えるきっかけになるとよいと思う。

石巻を一望できる公園。 隣には鹿島御児神社があり大きな石の鳥居が目を惹きます。 2025.4.9桜は2〜3分咲きでした。
