The Kanoya Railway Museum is a facility that conveys the history of the former National Railways Osumi Line. The wooden, flat-roofed building houses around 400 items, including dioramas and exhibits. Here, you can enjoy photos and exhibits of the vehicles and scenery that once served as the transportation for the people of the Osumi region on the Osumi Line. Additionally, next to the museum, you can actually ride on a diesel car that used to run on the former Osumi Line. Through slideshows and photos, you can enjoy a nostalgic atmosphere and a nostalgic world. For visitors, it will be a place to remember the history of railways and memories of the region!

Access

Access in 15 Minutes by Car from Higashihara IC!
When using a car to access the Kagoshima Railway Museum, take National Route 269 via Higashihara IC on the Osumi Jukan Expressway and arrive in about 15 minutes after traveling about 7km. If using public transportation, first take the San-cho Bus bound for Shibushi Port Entrance from Tarumi Port and arrive in Kagoshima in about 40 minutes. Transfer to the San-cho Bus bound for Nejyo/Takayama at Kagoshima and arrive in front of the Kagoshima City Hall in about 5 minutes. The Railway Museum is located right near the Kagoshima City Hall.

旧国鉄大隅線の歴史を見ることができました。昔の映像や当時使われていた数々の品物が歴史を語っていました。

10月の平日、 残念な土砂降りのなか伺いました😥 拝観無料なんですね☺️ 記念の切符も頂きました🙇 建物立派で展示資料も豊富❗ キハ20は若干傷み有りますが 車内の匂いが現役時代を感じます 館長さんがとても丁寧に 色々と説明してくださり 昔の写真やビデオ等 拝観有料でも良いのでは?と☺️ 気になる方は是非 伺ってみて下さい。

かつての志布志から国分に敷設されていた大隅線の 鹿屋駅を 市役所移転に併せ、隣に整備した駅舎に、車両、様々な鉄道関連の資料を展示した施設です。 海自の航空史料館を見学後訪問しました。 受付記帳を済ませて 常駐する職員さんと暫く雑談して 様々な資料を見学しました。 市役所が管理してますので無料なのですが、50~100円でも入場料を徴収して 施設の維持管理と新たな展示品の導入等に充てればとは思います。
