Highlights

Point 1

Casually Enjoy a Spectacular View from the Observation Deck

Kushiro Marsh Casually Enjoy a Spectacular View from the Observation Deck
There are several observation spots around the Kushiro Marsh where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the marshland. Among them, "Hosooka Observation Deck" has become one of the popular spots. From the observation deck, you can see the Kushiro River meandering through the Kushiro Marsh, and beyond the horizon, you can see Mt. Meakan and Mt. Oakan. In addition, a wooden signboard with "Kushiro Shitsugen National Park" written on it is installed at the observation deck, making it a recommended spot for commemorative photos.
Point 2

Enjoy Hiking

Kushiro Marsh Enjoy Hiking
For those who want to feel closer to the Kushiro Wetlands, we recommend hiking on the "Onnenai Boardwalk". Starting from the Onnenai Visitor Center, you can walk along the boardwalk installed in the wetlands. You can complete a round trip in about an hour and see various birds such as Tancho and various flowers along the way. A barrier-free course is also available, making it possible to stroll with a stroller, etc.
Point 3

Enjoy a Tourist Train

Kushiro Marsh Enjoy a Tourist Train
The "Kushiro Shitsugen Norokko" is a limited-time tourist train that runs on a 27.2-kilometer section between Kushiro Station and Toro Station. The train, which has observation cars and bench seats, runs through the depths of the Kushiro Marsh, which cannot be reached by foot or car. Unlike regular trains, it runs at a slow speed through the marsh, allowing you to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Kushiro Marsh. As it is a popular train, tickets are essential and early reservation is recommended.
Point 4

Enjoy Canoeing

Kushiro Marsh Enjoy Canoeing
For those who want to enjoy the Kushiro Wetlands actively, we recommend the "canoe experience" on the Kushiro River. Under the guidance of an instructor, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Kushiro Wetlands from the water's surface. One of the attractive points is that you can enjoy it regardless of the season, with fresh greenery in summer and snowy scenery in winter. If you're lucky, you may even encounter wild animals such as foxes and red-crowned cranes. It's popular for allowing you to feel the silence and natural scent of the wetlands more intimately than from observation decks and other places.
Point 5

Enjoy a Stunning Sunset View

Kushiro Marsh Enjoy a Stunning Sunset View
The Kushiro area is popular for its beautiful sunset views, so much so that it has been selected as one of the world's top three sunsets. The sunset viewed from the Kushiro Marsh Observatory in Kushiro City has received high praise, and the way it sinks beyond the horizon is truly fantastic. In addition to the observatory, the Kushiro Marsh Observatory also has an exhibition area that introduces the flora and fauna that inhabit the marsh, making it highly recommended to enjoy the sunset together with it.
