Michi-no-Eki Tajima

The souvenir shop located in Michi-no-Eki Tajima offers a wide variety of locally produced goods. Among them, the most popular are the local sake and soba noodles. You can purchase sake from four different breweries: Kassen Shuzo, Aizushu, Kokken Shuzo, and Kaito Otoko-yama Shuzo. If you're a fan of alcohol, you must try the local sake from Minamiaizu. In addition, the famous local dish "Saichi Soba" is also available for purchase. The soba noodles, which have been featured on TV, are absolutely delicious.

At the local products hall, not only local foods but also local crafts and limited edition items are sold. Goods that can be used in everyday life, such as trays, cotton swabs, and tea bowls, are lined up. Handicrafts made by "local mothers" are also popular, with products such as bags, coasters, and purses with clasps that will warm your heart. In addition, it's possible to get items such as "okigupposhi" dolls, "akabeko" toys, and Aizu-style pottery. Why not try leaving a "shape" as a memory of your trip?

At the drink corner, you can enjoy authentic coffee brewed by a machine and ice cream. In particular, the ice cream, which could be considered a specialty of Road Station Tajima, is a must-try. You definitely want to try the soft serve ice cream made with "Aizu Tajima asparagus" and "Nango tomato." The asparagus ice cream has a slight sweetness to it, while the tomato ice cream has a slight acidity. It may seem like a strange combination, but it's surprisingly addictive!

At the snack corner located in the Michi-no-Eki (roadside station), you can satisfy your hunger with not only ice cream, but also udon and soba noodles. Kenchin soba and mountain vegetable soba are popular, but the extensive seasonal menu is also a delightful point. The dishes that make you feel the season, such as curry made with locally grown vegetables, chilled tomato ramen, mushroom soba, and mushroom udon, are exquisite!

At Michi-no-Eki Tajima, an outdoor tent is set up from April to November to sell locally sourced seasonal ingredients. In spring, you'll find mountain vegetables, while summer brings a variety of vegetables and autumn features mushrooms. Local mountain vegetables like butterbur sprouts, warabi ferns, and kogomi are particularly delicious. Among them, the most popular are "spring asparagus" and "summer tomatoes," which are also used in ice cream. The vegetables of the Minamiaizu brand have a good color and taste. They are grown in a rich natural environment and are full of nutrients!
