Nanataki Enjoy a Nature-Rich Trekking Course!
The recommended trekking course for Nanataki Falls is the one that starts at the Prefectural Forest entrance. This course offers a variety of scenery, including waterfalls, volcanic gorges, wetlands, and crater lakes. Nanataki Falls is an impressive waterfall with a drop of over 30 meters, and walking along the ridge path, you can hear the cool sound of water. At Daichi Jigoku Valley, there is a steep slope where steam spouts out, allowing you to recognize that Mt. Iwate is an active volcano. Between the Prefectural Forest and Nanataki Falls, there are scattered flower fields such as the Mizunara Forest and the Ojigoku Branch. Although it is a long-distance course among the Mt. Iwate climbing paths, it is full of attractions and a charming climbing path. Please enjoy trekking in nature!

The Nanataki Icefall Snowshoe Tour is a special course that uses the ski resort's lift to gain altitude, cross valleys, and traverse through the forest towards Nanataki. On this tour, you will walk on snow with special shoes called snowshoes. Snowshoes have large surface area plates on the bottom, providing ample buoyancy on the snow. This allows you to walk without getting buried in the snow and move relatively easily even in deep snow. In the Nanataki Icefall Snowshoe Tour, a guide will lead you safely along the route to Nanataki. Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery and natural beauty while heading towards Nanataki Icefall. Especially in winter, you can enjoy a fantastical sight where the frozen waterfall and snowscape become one. Snowshoe tours are an attractive activity that even beginners can participate in, offering an adventure experience while interacting with nature. However, it's important to take sufficient measures against the cold and follow the guide's instructions. For those seeking a special winter adventure in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, the Nanataki Snowshoe Tour will be a wonderful choice!

Matsukawa Genbudo Rock refers to the columnar jointed igneous rock located on the right bank upstream of the Mori no Ohashi bridge. This area is also known as "Matsukawa Keikoku Genbudo Rock". As you walk along the promenade through Matsukawa Keikoku and come out onto the riverbed, you'll be greeted with an impressive view. A Powerful Waterfall with a Drop of About 30 Meters and a Large Volume of Water!
Nanataki is a powerful waterfall with a drop of about 30 meters and a large volume of water. The water falls forcefully and scatters as it spreads out. It has a rough impression, but the surrounding scenery is colorful, with the brownish color of the rock surface, the deep green of the surrounding trees, and the bright green of the moss. The volume of water is also large, and the wind pressure from the waterfall is strong, so when you visit in the summer, the spray hits your hot body and feels very refreshing. You can also see the waterfall hitting the rock surface and bouncing back in some places. It's also popular among those who enjoy trekking, and many people visit to see the rich nature and powerful waterfall. In the fall, you can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves, and in the winter, you can see the frozen waterfall turn into an ice waterfall!
