On the opposite side of Tsurigane Cave is another unique rock formation called Kabuto Rock. The tip of the rock is shaped like a helmet decoration, which is the origin of its name. The Kosode Ama Center is a tourism hub located on the Kosode Coast, known for its northernmost ama divers. The previous facility was washed away in the Great East Japan Earthquake, but was renovated in April 2015. On the first floor, there is a tourist information center and a direct sales facility where you can purchase local specialties and seafood. On the second and third floors, the history of the northernmost ama divers is exhibited, introducing their activities and culture. During the summer, there are demonstrations of ama diving, and you can enjoy grilled fresh seafood such as uni (sea urchin) and other shellfish caught on the spot. You can experience the skills of the ama divers and the richness of the sea while enjoying the blessings of the local sea. The Kosode Ama Center is a hub for the local ama culture and tourism, providing valuable experiences and information for visitors!

Access

Approximately 1 Hour by Car from Kunohe IC
To access the Kozu Diver Center, if using public transportation, take the Kujikaisen bus from JR Kujikai station and get off at the Kozukaigan bus stop, which takes about 30 minutes. It's convenient because it's just a short walk from the bus stop. If using a private car, take Prefectural Road 42 and National Route 281 via Kunohe IC on the Hachinohe Expressway, and it takes about 60km or approximately 1 hour to arrive. By following the road signs, you should be able to arrive at the center relatively smoothly.

2024年7月6日に初めて訪れました。 7月からの土日祝日は北限の海女 素潜り実演があり、海女さんが素潜りしてウニを採ってくるのを見れます。 その採りたてのウニをその場で食べれるように剥いてもらい食べることが出来ます。 ウニのトゲが動いている状態で食べることが出来るので、これほど新鮮なウニは無いと思います。 実演を見学するのに1人500円の見学料金、採りたてのウニをその場で食べれるのはウニ1つ1000円となっていました。 採れたてのウニは口に入れた瞬間、海水のしょっぱさの後にウニの旨味、甘味がじわ〜っと来てウニ嫌いな人でも旨いと思うレベルだと思います。 是非その味を体験してみてはと思います。

2024.5.5 久慈市内の美味しいラーメンを食べ お腹を満たした後は「小袖海岸」へドライブ 以前この地に訪れたのは「小袖海女センター」が 建つ前「あまちゃん」ブームの後でした。 北限の海女の素潜り実演を目にし 採りたての殻付き生ウニを実食した我が子… この地でウニの美味しさに開眼したのです(笑) 「小袖海女センター」は 1階は観光案内所や産直施設があり2・3階は 北限の海女の歴史について展示されてます。 北限の海女素潜り実演の実施期間は7月から なのでGWの期間はそれ程混んでおらず ゆっくりセンターやロケ地巡りが出来ました。 友人から1階の産直施設で売っている 「瓶詰め塩うに(¥2,000)」が絶品だという 情報を聞いていたので購入し夕食で頂きました。 甘塩うには濃厚でコクと旨味があり ティースプーン一杯で大盛りご飯が食べれる      最強の「ご飯泥棒」でした もう一瓶買ってくれば良かったです。 数年ぶりに訪れましたが変わらずのどかで 景色が良く空の青、海の碧、木々の緑が美しく リフレッシュ出来ました。

あまちゃんの舞台の久慈市袖ヶ浜を訪ねてみました 小袖海岸は道が狭く運転には注意が必要ですが、景色は最高です 9月に訪ねたため あまちゃんのウニ漁の実演は日曜日だけであいにく予定の関係で観ることは出来ませんでした お店で販売している500円のウニ飯は美味しかった
