The Kuji Amber Museum introduces the rich history and charm of amber in the Kuji region. It is known that Kuji-produced amber was even transported to the Yamato court during the Kofun period, and its history has been continuing since ancient times. Recently, research on insect-included amber has been active, including DNA extraction of insect fossils and restoration of bacterial organisms. From the perspectives of natural and human sciences, exhibitions and explanations are conducted under two themes: "Mysterious Time Capsule" and "People and Amber". The exhibited materials include raw stones, rare items, insect-included amber, archaeological excavations, historical materials, and crafts. The Kuji Amber Museum provides a fun learning experience for visitors through interesting exhibitions, serving as a place to widely convey knowledge and charm about amber in the Kuji region.

Access

Access by Bus from JR Kuji Station, about 10 Minutes Away
If you are using public transportation to access the Kuji Amber Museum, take the JR Bus bound for Morioka/Ninohe from JR Kuji Station and get off at the Morimae bus stop, which takes about 10 minutes. From the bus stop, it's about a 5-minute drive, but if you contact the Kuji Amber Museum in advance, you can use their free shuttle service from the Morimae bus stop, so please check in advance. If you are using a car, take Prefectural Road 42 and National Route 281 via the Kuknohe IC on the Hachinohe Expressway, and you will arrive at the Kuji Amber Museum in about 40 minutes, covering a distance of about 30km.

この道で着くの?って言うくらい普通の生活道路ぽいところを通ってたどり着きます。 利用料金 大 人 500円 小・中学生 200円 開館時間 9:00~17:00  入館は16:30まで コスパ良し。 ひたすら琥珀にこだわった会館です。 琥珀のおどろきの歴史が盛り沢山。 まつわる逸話、使用方法等展示されています。 新館で受付、チケットは本館へ入る際必要です。 新館は体験学習型展示、2階は美術品や企画展などが催される。 本館は琥珀の歴史と芸術品。関連販売は個人的にはちょっと手が出ない金額。 琥珀採掘体験は時間の都合上断念。 撮影禁止が結構あるので注意が必要です。

展示施設は正直こんなもんかと思います。 でも、琥珀の採掘体験は楽しいです。 汚れるし暑いし虫も出る上、全く取れずおけらかも知れないけど…宝探し感がハンパないです。 採掘するなら…できれば長靴・帽子・タオル・汚れてもいい服装・虫よけスプレーを準備しましょう。 最期に受付のスタッフの方の愛想のない感じは若干傷つきました。(歓迎されてない感じがすごかった。そんなに来てほしくないんですかね…?)

丁寧な指導のもと琥珀発掘体験しました。結構大変でしたが、あっという間に時間になってしまいました。ミュージアムも見応えあり、いろんな琥珀のお土産ものもありました。遠くから行ったかいがありました。
