休日はとても混みます。食事をするにもイスとテーブルは空いていない事が多いので広場にレジャーシートを引いてピクニックするのがおすすめです。お弁当持参やどうぶつカフェのテイクアウトやキッチンカーも出ています。 所々に休憩所や芝生の広場、ベンチもあり。距離はありますがバラ園手前の広場まで行けば、動物園ゾーンに比べて人も少なく快適です。 数に限りがあるが有料のベビーカーの貸し出しあり。園内は階段が多いですが、スロープもあるので不便さは感じませんでした。 植物園ゾーンのお花畑や展望台、はなびらすべり台はGW初日でもゆったりと見て遊べたのでぜひ足を運んでいただきたいです。 駐車場に入る渋滞がおきていたので公共交通機関の利用がおすすめ。

名古屋市内にある巨大な動物園。名古屋駅からアクセスがよく、観光途中での訪問も便利です。最寄駅降りてすぐ目の前が動物園。 土日はチケット売り場が混み合うので、事前にアソビューでの購入がオススメです。料金は小学生まで無料、大人料金も一人500円と破格の安さ。 動物園、植物園、遊園地の3エリア構成。メインは動物園です。食事場所はどこも綺麗ですが、キャパシティはやや小さめなので屋内で食べたければ早めに昼食とったほうがよいです。芝生スペースは豊富にあるので、気候が良ければ屋外ランチも気持ち良いかもしれません。 飼育方法が工夫されていて、上空のトンネルを通るレッサーパンダ、独特の大声をあげるフクロテナガザル、突然喧嘩を始めるカリフォルニアアシカ等、普段見れない動物の姿を見れて、とても楽しかったです。 かなり歩きましたが、奥の方にある桜の回廊がちょうど見頃でした。都内なら確実に激混みになると思いますが、ここはほどよい混み具合でゆっくり桜を楽しめました。

子供の頃から数えられないほど訪れている動植物園です。40年以上経って魅力はさらに高まっていると思います。夜の動植物園を楽しめる春のナイトZOO&GARDEN、秋には園内で大道芸が行われる秋まつりがあり、ライトアップされた桜や紅葉の中をそぞろ歩きできる春と秋のナイトイベントも人気です。子供だけでなく大人だけでも楽しめるテーマパークになっているので、大人になってから行ってなかったなという方はぜひ一度訪れてみてほしいです。 イベント期間でなく、通常営業の動植物園をゆっくり巡るのんびりした休日も楽しいですよ。東山動植物園の周囲には本好きさんに人気の独立系書店bookshop and gallery ON READINGや大きなオープンモール星が丘テラスもあります。
