Hida Kanayama: Where History and Power Meet

Kinkotsu-meguri Hida Kanayama: Where History and Power Meet
Hida Kanayama is a town located on the border where Tetsuzo Yamaoka is said to have walked. During the Edo period, it prospered as a town where the borders of four domains - Tenryo, Owari, Naegi, and Gujo - intersected, and the Kanayama-juku on the Hida Highway was a bustling transportation hub. On the Suji Meguri tour, you can stop by the "Sakai Bridge" along this Hida Highway. This bridge is exactly on the border between Hida and Mino, and a survey benchmark is installed there. Near the bridge, there is a Buddha statue called Komori Jizo and a Keyaki tree, the southernmost point of the Hida Mountain Range. It is said that the power of Hida springs from this Keyaki tree, making it a popular power spot among people. Visitors can feel the history and power of Hida Kanayama through the Suji Meguri tour.

The Legendary Stage of Hida Kanayama, "Chinmoku Mountain"

Kinkotsu-meguri The Legendary Stage of Hida Kanayama, "Chinmoku Mountain"
Chinmoku Mountain is a must-visit spot on the Hida Kanayama Muscle Tour. This mountain is a legendary stage from the Kofun period dating back to the Edo period and is associated with the existence of "Ryomen Sukuna," which also appears in the Nihon Shoki. According to legend, Ryomen Sukuna was a powerful clan in the Hida region who had a face on both sides and the ability to move while flying in the sky. He is said to have been a kind-hearted hero who protected the people of Hida. Chinmoku Mountain is also known as a place where Ryomen Sukuna temporarily resided, and it is said that they stopped here while being chased by the imperial army. Locally, it is called "Chinchin Mountain," and it offers an open space with a panoramic view of the town of Kanayama. It's perfect for a break after walking through narrow alleys during the muscle tour. Chinmoku Mountain is a power spot where ancient legends still live, giving people healing and inspiration.
