Access

Access to Gero Onsen
Gero Onsen, where Kagura Shrine is located, is in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture. The nearest station is Gero Station on the JR Tokai Takayama Main Line. Gero Station is the gateway to Gero Onsen, and all trains, including express trains, stop there. If you're coming to Gero Onsen from Tokyo, Osaka, or Nagoya, we recommend using the Shinkansen or highway bus to get to Nagoya Station. The transfer from Nagoya Station to Gero Station is smooth, allowing for a comfortable journey. There are various routes by car. The first route is to take the Nakatsugawa IC on the Chuo Expressway, then take National Route 257 and the Ura-Kiso Kaido. You can enjoy the scenery of the Satoyama while driving comfortably, and it takes about an hour. The second route is to use the Heisei Koubai Road, which goes through Prefectural Road 58 and National Route 41, from the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway's Tokai-Kakamigahara IC. It's an easy-to-drive road that passes through the mountains, and it takes about an hour and 10 minutes. The third route is to take the Gujo Hachiman IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, then take National Route 256 and National Route 41 to Gero Onsen. After crossing the Horikoshi Pass, the road continues through the Satoyama. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes. Access by car allows you to enjoy the scenery and have a comfortable journey. Whether by car or train, please come and visit.

A modern and slightly touristy shrine dedicated to frogs in the hot spring town as the town name of Gero is the same as the sound a frog makes in Japanese. I'm not sure if there are any other gods enshrined here. There is a pre-written goshuin available inside on the right 温泉街にあるカエルを祀った近代的でやや観光地的な神社。ここに祀られている神様は他にもいるのかどうかはわからない。右側には、書き置き御朱印がある。

下呂駅から、駅から散歩で訪問。温泉街にある神社。名前の通り、かえるが御神体の神社。いろいろなところにかえるが隠れている。探してみるのも楽しい。 そして、お参りすると、御神体が。なんとも楽しい神社だ。
