2024年11月の紅葉まつりの時期に伺いました。 西暦803年(延暦22)に最澄(サイチョウ)が創建したと伝えられるお寺です。22体の国の重要文化財が安置され、多くの絵画、書籍を有することから"美濃の正倉院"と呼ばれています。 訪問時間が16時と遅く見ることができなかったのですが、200年前に最年少で即身成仏になったとされる妙心法師の舎利仏が有名です。秋になると紅葉がとても綺麗で境内にある山門等多くの写真映えスポットがあります。 横蔵寺前駐車場は有料ですが300m程坂下の大型駐車場はスペースも広く無料の為お勧めです。

最澄が開山したと伝わる伝統あるお寺。平安、鎌倉時代には、多くの僧が修業していたそうです。国指定重要文化財が多く保管されており、仁王像や十二神将などを見学することができます。 木々に囲まれた静かなお寺でした。もみじの木も沢山あったので、紅葉の季節は更に綺麗かと思います。
