20 Minutes by Car from Kiso River
The World Freshwater Aquarium is an aquarium located a 20-minute taxi ride from JR Kiso River Station. It's also possible to visit by bus from JR Kasamatsu Station. In that case, you can get there on foot from the Kasamatsu Kawashima Line "River Environment Park" bus stop. If you're coming by car, it's about a 30-minute drive from the center of Gifu via the national highway, or about 10 minutes from Gifu City via the general road from Gifu IC. There are parking lots at the central, west, and east entrances, so be sure to park your car there.

岐阜県にある日本最大級の淡水魚水族館、岐阜駅からも名古屋駅からも近い笠松駅から直通バスも出ていますが本数はかなり少なめ、一方で高速道路から直接アクセス可能な入口もあるため車でのアクセスは容易です。 大型園だけあって入園料は1780円とやや高め。 ほぼ淡水魚専門の水族館ですが大型水族館と言って良いレベルで広い水族館でメコンオオナマズやピラルクー、日本ではここ含め2ヶ所でしか見られない最大の淡水エイ、プラークラベーンと世界最大級の大型淡水魚が見られるのも特徴。 メコンオオナマズに関しては本館の売りでもあるのでかなり圧巻でしたが、ピラルクーはトンネル水槽で色々な角度から観察出来る「中川水遊園」、プラークラベーンはより大型個体が展示されている「板橋区熱帯植物園」の方が見応えはあったかなという印象。 他にもオオサンショウウオや日本最大の淡水魚イトウの展示、希少種であるハリヨが結構な大型水槽で展示されていたりと全体的にかなり見応えのある水族館です、淡水専門ということでショー的なアトラクションは無いので観察メインの水族館が好きな人にはかなりオススメ。

岐阜に行く途中で寄りましたが 作り込まれた空間で水槽も綺麗で 魚もたくさんいて楽しかったです! アロワナやオオサンショウウオが 大きすぎてテンションあがりました! すぐ横にちっちゃいフードコートみたいなところもあり食事もできました。 向かいのクレープやソフトクリームのお店も 美味しかったのでおすすめです!!

とても大好きな淡水魚の水族館です^^ 何度も行っています。 (私の住む田舎町でも良く見かける生き物たちが多く展示されていますが、つい‥見たくなります☺) 海の水族館はあっても淡水魚専門の水族館はなかなかありません^^ 私は個人的に1階と2階のゾーンが好きで気に入っています^^ 淡水魚博士がメコン川の環境調査を行っている設定で作られた展示物もなかなか楽しみながら見ることができます^^ そして、なんと言っても1階のアマゾンに暮らす淡水魚たちが物凄い迫力で、想像を超える大きさにとても驚くこと間違いないです! 幼少期のお子さんよりも大きな大きな淡水魚たちが悠々と泳ぐ姿は圧巻で、子供だけでなく、大人の私達も驚きとワクワクで楽しませてくれる瞬間です^^ 特に1億年ものあいだ、姿を変えないと言われてきた「ピラルクー」は物凄い迫力と強さを感じさせてくれます。 また、水槽の清掃が行き届いていて、水が美しく保たれている所がこの水族館の素晴らしさではないかと行く度に感じます^^ 是非!大きな魚たちと一緒に素敵なショットを撮って頂きたいです^^ また、屋外の清流ふれあいプールでは、コイやシベリアチョーザメに餌やりができ、触ることもできるため、4階~1階、屋外と最後の最後まで楽しめる淡水魚水族館です^^ (少しお高いですが、コレクションにも最適なリアルな爬虫類などのガチャガチャも実は大人も楽しめます!) 4階~1階までイッキ見しながら降りるため、先にお手洗いを済ませておくことをオススメします^^
