Historical Walk around Iga Ueno Castle
Iga Ueno Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's retainer, Tsutsui Sadatsugu, in the 13th year of the Tensho era and was later renovated by Tokugawa Ieyasu's retainer, Todo Takatora. It was a lifeline for Tokugawa Ieyasu and was built in preparation for the Osaka Campaign. It is now designated as an important cultural property of the country and is said to have three towers. Inside the castle, you can see samurai residences, armories, stone walls, and other historical buildings.

7-Minute Walk from the Nearest Station
Iga Ueno Castle is a castle that can only be accessed by public transportation. From JR Iga Ueno Station, take the Iga Railway and get off at Ueno-shi Station. It's about a 7-minute walk from there to the castle. If you're coming from Nagoya, it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by Meitetsu Bus Center to arrive at Ueno-shi Station, making it a convenient location for access from other prefectures as well. If you want to enjoy not only the castle tower but also Ueno Park, which spreads out in the castle town, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking.
