東福寺 五百羅漢 2回目の訪問です 前回とは異なる同行者に、しっくいの透かしを見せたくて訪問してきました 拝観料は200円、御朱印は300円納めてきました おばあさんの説明を伺い、時間の許す限り楽しめます 檀家の方がご両親の供養を目的に、群馬の左官工 田村利光さんに依頼して、約5年もの歳月をかけて仕上げられたそうです 龍の作品は迫力を、立体のしっくい作品には想像力を、透かしには記述力を感じさせられました 供養目的ならば致し方ありませんが、沢山の人の目に触れにくい場所に存置されているのは、少し残念に思いますが、ぜひとも大切に保管し続けてほしいものです

西伊豆町にあるコンパクトサイズのお寺です。 2024年10月、3連休の中日に訪れました。 玄関へ行くとお寺の奥さまらしき方に声を掛けて頂き、本堂を開けてくれました。 本堂の天井に広がる漆喰で作られた龍や五百羅漢は圧巻です。ところどころ立体的(仕掛け絵本のイメージ)に作られており、迫力ある作りです。 作られた由来など、奥さまにとても丁寧に説明して頂きました。漠然と眺めるよりも知識があった方が関心が高まりますね。 写真撮影の可否を尋ねてみるとスマホでフラッシュを焚かなければ数枚程度はOKとのこと。 経年劣化に加え建物の特性上、傷みやすいので保存には苦心されているようです。 写真ではスゴかったのに行ってみたらイマイチ…なスポットもありますが、コチラは想像していたよりずっと素晴らしかったです。 拝観料は200円。駐車場は無料で、大型車でも苦にならず停めることができるかと思います。 機会があれば是非またお参りさせて頂きたいと思いました。
