Shibushi's Summer Soba

A lucky soba to eat after half a year has passed.

In Shibushi city, there is a custom of eating summer soba on June 30th, which is half a year after New Year's Day, just like eating soba noodles on New Year's Eve. There are also unusual types of soba such as cold bukkake soba that can be eaten refreshingly in the hot summer, and Western-style soba with a pasta-like texture. It seems fun to go around and try different soba in Shibushi during the summer!

Kanoya Sweet Potato

Moist and sweet sweet potato with a strong sweetness.

It is said that the roots of sweet potatoes can be traced back to when a fisherman named Maeda Tariemon brought a few seed potatoes back to the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula when he visited Okinawa in 1704. The strong sweetness and moist, sweet taste are unique to the original area! Sweet potatoes not only taste delicious, but are also very nutritious, containing many minerals and vitamins, making them an excellent food.
